THIS CONCENTRATION EMPHASIZES PROGRESS IN THE BRAIN SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGIES TO MEASURE BRAIN FUNCTION.

NCSI is partnering with Boys Town Research Hospital and its behavioral research program, along with other science centers. This concentration pools contributions from several brain initiatives and looks at means to measure risk in criminal and civil court contexts.  R. James R. Blair, Ph.D. is this concentration’ s chief science advisor.  He is Boys Town’s Director of Neurobehavioral Research.  Phase 1, with 12 judges, launches December 2018.

Measures of risk analysis constitute this Concentration’s primary focus.  Phases 2 and 3, each with 24 judges and six judicial educators each, launch in December 2019 and 2020.

With editing by Stuart F. White, Ph.D., Director of Decision Research at Boys’ Town, this concentration has completed its first volume, Neurobiology and Violence, containing 15 contemporary articles on brain development and function in criminal and civil cases.  It is available for purchase from NCSI.
